What to play with an Akita?

With the help of common games, the owner can teach the pet useful commands, and the dog can get mental and physical exercise. Games also have a positive effect on the psychological health of the pet.

We will tell you about several games that are suitable for Akita.

HIDE AND SEEK

Difficulty - easy.

🐾You will need at least 2 people, treats.

One family member holds the dog by the collar, the second takes a treat and, attracting the dog's attention, goes into another room and hides behind a curtain, in a closet, etc., but at the initial stages it is better to hide in obvious places, for example, around the corner or behind the sofa, so that the dog can quickly find.

As soon as the dog has disappeared, the first family member says to the dog: "Look for mom / dad, etc." If the dog does not understand on the first try, help it find. As soon as the hidden one is found, you need to be very happy, praise the dog and give a treat.

Gradually complicate the game: choose more difficult to reach places or involve a third and fourth person in the game, let several people search.

TOY NAMES

Difficulty – medium.

🐾You will need several different toys, treats.

Put the dog's favorite toy in front of it and remove the others from sight. Attract the dog's attention with this toy, name it: teddy bear/kitty, etc., choose simple, easy names. When the dog is interested, name the toy, give it a treat and praise.

Repeat the action several times.

Put the toy in front of the dog and name it, as soon as the pet touches the toy, give it a treat! Repeat until you are sure that the dog has remembered the name.

Complicate the game. Put the toy on the floor and ask: Where is the bunny? The dog can immediately understand the task: point to the toy and ask the question again. Once the animal finds the object, praise it and give it a treat. To reinforce, repeat this step several times.

Place other toys and train the dog to remember their names. Later, you can make the game more difficult: for example, ask the dog to find a specific toy among others.

THIMBLES

Difficulty - medium.

🐾You will need 3 cups/bowls and a treat.

The famous game for deceiving gullible citizens can be very useful for dogs 😁

Let the dog watch as you hide a treat under one of the three cups. Then you slowly mix the cups and say to the dog: "find/where?", allowing him to sniff the containers, turn the bowl over under which treat and let the dog eat it. Put a piece under the bowls again, and mix again and let the dog sniff if the dog clearly climbs into the right bowl.

Later, you can teach the dog to show with its paw or voice where the treat is.

Such games will give your Akiti a lot of mental stimulation and will help you establish or strengthen contact. The more skills the dog has, the easier it is to teach it new things. And it is simply a lot of fun for both the pet and you!
